Phew, back to where we belong—Hong Kong! Yes, today was a travel day, again!

This morning we gorged ourselves senseless on the breakfast buffet, even knowing full well that we’ll be fed senseless in the Singapore Airlines lounge and again on the flight. Why is that??

We packed up the last of our stuff and bid farewell to Sentosa Island. I would say reluctantly, but I actually think we’ve had enough Singapore.

We got to the airport just fine. Funny system at Sentosa, you actually have to pay even just to drive onto it. Even taxis. Trust me when I say it just isn’t that special.

The airport was quick and mostly painless, although the check in lineup was longer than expected, even in the Elite area.

We got through immigration and up to the KrisFlyer gold lounge very easily (after the gift shops took some of my money). The lounge offered every variety of food and drink you could possibly want….so yes, we ate again!

Funny system at Changi Airport….you don’t go through security until the very last minute before boarding the plane. So you’re sitting in the lounge thinking you have tons of time, but then realize that “crap, I still have to clear security!”

They had these cool chairs, kind of like wheelchairs but not, so me and the girls grabbed one and I pushed them the 65kms to our gate!! Exaggerate much!?

Security was just fine, and painless. Not sure that’s the most efficient way for them to manage security, with a station set up at each and every gate, but it went very quickly, so who am I to care?

The flight was really full, packed to the gills in fact, but Singapore airlines did their usual and provided great service, an amazing meal and got us to the gate on time.

Believe it or not, we cleared Hong Kong immigration, got our luggage and were outside waiting within 5 minutes (no lie) of getting off the plane. It was fantastic and unexpected. Therefore, Danny, who was supposed to surprise the girls by being at the airport, was late. Way late. We spent about half an hour waiting on him.

Back to our usual hotel, and the kids had a dinner demand…Pizza Express. Again. Danny called to try to book a table, since it’s 6:30pm on a Saturday night and they said no, no tables available until 9:00pm or later. Crap.

We decided to walk down into the city to find something for dinner. As we walked towards Pizza Express, I suggested that we go in and ask for a table. We did, and they put us at one right away. Huh? Can’t book a table, but show up and be seated. Whatever.

Dinner was quick and painful. Yes, painful, not painless. The kids were tired, and ratty from the day of travel and overly excited to see Danny, so it was awful. The worst behaviour we’ve seen since the day we flew into Hong Kong.

Called it a night, and hoped for a better day tomorrow, back in Hong Kong.
